The Israel-Japan Friendship Association was
established in 1956, four years after
Israel and Japan have established diplomatic ties. The founders
were Mr. Moshe Bejerano, businessman and diplomat, Mr. K. Mosberg,
and advocate Ram Salomon,
who wrote the Association's bylaws. |

Along the years, concurrently with the expansion
of the cultural ties between the
countries and the evolution of rich commercial contacts, the
bylaw was adapted to
the new conditions and the Israel-Japan Friendship Association
and Chamber of Commerce was established. |

The Israel-Japan Friendship Association, which
is part of the larger Israel-Japan Friendship Association, is
a registered association, open for anyone who is interested
in Japan and Japanese culture. |

The members in the Israel-Japan Friendship
Association include intellectuals and academics as well as aficionados
of subjects related to Japanese culture. |

The Israel-Japan Friendship Association is
active in the following areas: |

Promoting the study and understanding of japans
culture in Israel; |

Developing social and cultural ties between
the Israeli and Japanese peoples; |

Organize various events related to Japanese
culture such as movies, lectures, demonstrations, art exhibitions; |

Initiation of ties with cultural institutes
in Japan; |

Meetings between intellectuals, academics and
artists from Israel and Japan; |

Shishagrirut – lectures on topics related to
Japan, held in collaboration with Japan's embassy in Israel; |

Encouragement of Japanese culture learning
in Israel's educational system through: |

ministry of education and Japan's embassy in Israel; |

Provide ongoing information on Japan
